TIO is based in Darwin and our strength lies in our solid understanding of the conditions faced within the Territory year after year.
1. New for old replacement after a total loss
If your caravan or trailer was purchased new by you from the manufacturer or their dealer and becomes a total loss within two years of the starting date of the original registration, we will replace your caravan or trailer with a new caravan or trailer of the same make, model and series – subject to the consent of the financier. If a replacement caravan or trailer is not currently available, we will pay you the nominated value of your caravan or trailer, being a reasonable sum that fairly represents the value of the caravan or trailer.
2. 72 hour waiting period for loss or damage occurring from cyclones, bush fires or floods
As the Territory is subject to catastrophic weather events, it is necessary for us to apply a 72 hour waiting period for loss or damage occurring from cyclones, bush fires or floods. This means if you arrange new insurance or make a mid-term alteration such as increase sums insured, you will not have cover for these events until 72 hours after purchase or alteration.
